Synapse Arts Collective is a Chicago-based performance group that utilizes a holistic and hand-made approach to creating dance, theatre, and visual art.

We generate opportunities for all types of artists to integrate their skills and work collaboratively on performance-based projects. We continually encompass movement experimentation, theater, photography, visual art, video, creative writing, and stage design.

Railing against the self-centered climate of our times, Synapse works to create experiences that encourage the viewer to question his or her own social perception. Our events often include audience participation, and our motive is to craft active viewers who then become more socially active citizens. We believe that the purpose of our artwork is to evoke critical thought, raw emotion, and fresh inspiration in its witness. Our experiential approach to artistic programming creates opportunities for audiences to be affected. By immersing observers and participants in sensory experience, play, and emotional journey, we seek to guide them to newfound awareness.

We are dedicated to keeping our events available to all by doing public/site-specific work, and making admission prices inexpensive or free.
